trying something new: monthly reflections

For about three years now, I’ve been making Pinterest boards where I look back on my life and ask myself, “What is it that I’ve been learning?”

It’s almost like a monthly mood board for me.

I think that there is so much value in looking back at where you are in life and the things that you’ve grown from. So I wanna start doing these mood boards with the podcast as well. On my newsletter (we have 100+ subscribers now!), I have been doing this for a while now. I send out a monthly reflection and invite followers to learn with me.

may 2023 reflections

So this month, May, has been filled with a lot of transitions for me. With these transitions, I am focusing the most on learning to accept the simplicity of life.

Transitions are difficult for me. They’re good transitions, but they’re still difficult. And I have been working my best to honor those feelings, and also move forward. Maybe I’m not really sure what’s gonna happen in the next month or so, but I’m allowing myself to accept the feelings and find joy and peace in those little moments.

So that would be the biggest thing that I think I learned this month. I always want to have my emotions figured out. I talked about that in the last episode and it’s hard for me to not be able to do that.

Moving forward: natural living

As I have started accepting the simplicity of life, I started realizing that there are so many different things that we can embrace simplicity in. For example, I’ve been so much healthier now that I’ve been at home; my bloating is gone, my stomach issues are gone, my mental health issues are way more manageable, etc. now that I’m eating fresh, good foods that truly nourish my body. This is the simplicity of going back to natural living and back to our roots.

This is what our ancestors ate. They didn’t have chips. They didn’t have all of these processed manmade foods. They ate simple, natural things.

So with these realizations, I learned that not everything has to be a well-thought-out process. Sometimes it’s just as simple as mind, body, and soul.

Are you nourishing your body?

Are you paying attention and being kind to your mind?

Are you feeding your soul?

If you are really focusing on all of those things (which is a lot harder than it sounds), you are going to feel more aligned.

June 2023

Following this train of thought, this month’s new theme for June is going to be to embrace that natural living and that simplicity. That is what I started to learn last month and that is what I really want to focus on for this month.

Mind, body, and soul, and nourishing all three of those things.
