Feeling a Little Human: How To Make Peace with Your Emotions

Coming home from college, the transition was weird for me. During this time, there was one thing in particular that I realized- I was being really hard on myself for feeling normal human emotions

I’m a huge overthinker and I’m really hard on myself for my emotions. In fact, it’s something I’ve been trying to work on in my counseling for months now. To this day, I still struggle with it.

How do I deal with uncomfortable emotions without being hard on myself? How do I allow myself to feel the emotions I naturally have as a human?

I’ll be honest, until about 2 years ago, I didn’t know that having difficult emotions was normal. Immediately when I had an uncomfortable feeling, I thought there was something wrong with me. So it wasn’t until a few months ago that I realized that there wasn’t anything wrong with me, I was just feeling human.
